P.Vivax is the audio project of Melissa Hallows and Final WAVs is the first compilation of field recordings to emerge from her studio. Within the P.Vivax world, all manner of sonic sources hold a legitimate value for scrutiny; to be gathered, guided, examined, edited, processed and presented to those who choose to take time to listen; revealing the unearthly yet everyday beauty perceived by Hallows when purposefully documenting the sounds around her
The maximal and the minimal. Spare time spent capturing the quotidian, catching the once in a lifetime; the minutiae and the glory of being (in the moment). Zoning into the domestic, the exotic, the tropical, the parochial, the kitchen….
P.Vivax’s musical roots, specifically noise, techno and artists on the margins are all evident in the subtle resonance of this collection of recordings. The intricate attention to detail and hyper-focused audio processing is there to be deciphered (or not) by the listener, a chance to hear through the ears of someone who plucks wonder from the vibration of air
