Here comes the second chapter for Maga Circe Musica, after the first album by Donato Dozzy with Daniele di Gregorio. This time the creative mind behind the music belongs to Yves Jates, mostly known as a designer with the signature Yko

“M”, his debut album, is composed of eight musical moments where electronics and classicism dance together and regenerate each other by reaching ever changing equilibriums that result in an aesthetics ranging from neurotic to psychedelic forms (Moment 1), and from dark to aethereal forms (Moments 2, 5, 7)

The project embraces a modern classicism aiming to saturate space with colour, producing compositions full of air and light and the right amount of darkness. “Moment 3” is a clear example of this, with its spacious, airy themes that sometimes plunge into places of sheer darkness. In “Moment 4”, with a central body that echoes Norwegian Miasmah’s music, Jates evoked a classic orchestral sound and reworked it by adding instruments, edges and dark ambient elements ranging from subtle throbbing sounds to strident recordings of metallic sounds. These are the components of a flow that reflects vibes and moods absorbed over the years, beautifully represented here on a spacious canvas full of hidden recesses lit up by brilliant ideas
